Yolanda Rosa Betkowsky

September 16, 1930 ~ September 4, 2021 (age 90)

It is with great sadness our mother Yola passed away on September 4th. She was born September 16, 1930 in Papudo, Chile. Yolanda Rosa Cueto Encina - Betkowsky.

Yolanda is survived by her three children Dulcia, Andy, and Valentina. Eight grandchildren, Ryan, Nikki, Chantal, Brian, Kyle, Ashley, Eric, and Aidan. Seven great grandchildren, Brianna, Caleb, Abram, Sofia, Olivia, Camila, and Kyle Aeson.

Kyle Davis beloved grandson preceded her in death on September 20, 2020.

Yola was a formidable, complex woman who lived life on her own terms. The light of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she lavished her love on all of them, they affectionately called her Lala and GG.

Yola’s Chilean roots and family were at the center of her being. Yola was the eldest of 10 children and she is survived by 6 siblings that reside in California and Chile. Yola met her her husband Oleg Betkowsky in Santiago, Chile which began her adventure to the United States immigrating with two small children and conceived a third child on their voyage!! Yolanda started a new life with a growing family and settled In Palo Alto. Her husband Oleg secured a position with Ampex Electronics company in Redwood City and Yola became a Nanny to wealthy families in Atherton which afforded them the purchase of a new home in Newark, California. There the Betkowsky family continued to raise their children.

When Yolanda divorced it was a new beginning of living her life independently. Yola pursued her dream of becoming a beautician. Yola achieved her dream which afforded her complete self reliance which speaks volumes to her character and determination. Yola was a selfless woman who was the backbone of her family. This extended to her friends which she had many.

Our family is experiencing a huge void and won’t be the same without her.

To all who knew her there was a story or an adventure attached to each encounter. There were so many facets to Yola’s life, that those of us who knew her can only understand and hold her in high esteem, awe, and wonder of who Yola was.

With sincere love and devotion her children will lay her to rest in her beloved country, Chile alongside her father Gancho Manuel Cueto and her Grandmother Francesca Cueto Perez.

Yola will be deeply missed by her children and all who know and love her. May she Rest In Peace.

Sincerely, the Davis, Betts, and O’Bayley families.
