Alan Joseph Roderick, long time Sacramento area resident, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on May, 21 2021 at the age 65.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; his daughter, Crystal; his mother, Novita; and his brothers Douglas and Craig (Patti). He is pre-deceased by his father Joseph.
Alan was born on August 23, 1955 in Castro Valley, California to Joseph and Novita Roderick. He and his family lived in Alvardo, California for several years before moving to Elk Grove, California in 1968. Alan graduated from William Daylor High School in 1973. He had one daughter, Crystal in 1980, with his first wife Debbie Holmes. He married Vicki Holcomb in 1991.
Alan worked several jobs throughout his life, most notably as a manager/franchise owner of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant and owner of a Pool Service/Pressure Washing /Water Feature business. Earlier in the life, he enjoyed boating on the Sacramento River with friends, camping in his RV, riding his motorcycle, and dirt biking in the Forrest Hill area. As of recently, he enjoyed talking on his CB/Ham Radio and caring for his cats and dogs. He just recently obtained his Ham radio license and was very proud of this achievement.
Alan was known for having a great sense of humor. He made people laugh wherever he went. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, starting many businesses and managing various side hustles. He also had an engineer's mind set, allowing him to fix or build almost anything. His biggest project was purchasing a fixer upper home in 1997 and renovating with the help of friends and employees.
Alan was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Per his wishes, there are no services planned. Please honor and remember Alan by spending time with your loved ones or donating to a trusted charity of your choice.
