JAY DAVID STORER

April 21, 1947 ~ June 3, 2017 (age 70)

Jay Storer, of Davis, CA and longtime resident of Volcano, CA, died 6/3/17, age 70. He was diagnosed 5 years ago with Lewy Body dementia and died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Jay truly lived his dreams and  had a quiet assurance that enabled him to do so many things well in life.

His lifelong passion was anything car related. He crafted his profession to include this passion and worked as an automotive writer, editor and photographer for more than 40 years. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a Journalism degree, moving to Los Angeles right after college to work at Petersen Publishing Company. He wrote for Rod & Custom, Street Rodder and Hot Rod Deluxe and later authored How-To books for Haynes and Chilton repair manuals. He was proud to race at the Bonneville salt flats for 10 years.

Jay will be missed everyday by everyone who felt lucky enough to know him. He brought his high energy, laughter and love to our lives. He leaves behind his wife, Gloria Storer, daughter Elizabeth Storer (Alan Chavez) in Berkeley, and sister Bonnie Ouellette in S.Carolina, with many relatives in the Bay Area, So.California, Massachusetts and Atlanta.
