CAROL ANN MONROEOctober 30, 1939 ~ July 12, 2017 (age 77)
Carol Ann Monroe, originally from Des Moines, Iowa, was called by God to her eternal resting place Wednesday, the 12th of July at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in 1939, Carol moved to the Bay Area at the age of 19. She later met and married Edward Brooks and had two daughters. She earned a Bachelor of Arts, Teaching Credential and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Sacramento, while raising her daughters.
Carol had a passion for education and served the State of California for 39 years at the California Department of Education. This would be an incredible career for her that allowed her to participate in educating parents. She retired from the Department of Education as an Education Programs Consultant in 2000.
Carol loved a good hat. She would always say there is a hat for every occasion. Her style was on point through the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. When her grandchildren were born, she was head over heels in love and was so happy to hold the title of grandma (and later GG or great gran was icing on the cake). She also enjoyed her girls’ meetup, reading, and had an incredible spirit full of strength and wisdom.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Tennerson (Kevin) of Plumas Lake, Natalie Brooks of Orangevale, her two grandchildren, Rachael Gallodoro (Justin) of Metairie, Louisiana, Julian Richardson of Plumas Lake, two great-grandchildren, Siena Gallodoro and Jaxon Richardson, whom brought great joy to her over the past year, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and countless great nieces and great nephews all of whom loved her dearly.
